Who Can Operate Terra Node
Anyone can operate a Terra node by downloading the software, installing it, and running it.
However, to earn rewards, you must purchase at least one Terra License Key. To claim earned rewards, you must pass a KYC check confirming two conditions:
You are not in the USA
You are not subject to any OFAC sanctions. You can check the OFAC website here to see if you are subject to sanctions.
KYC screening will be conducted by Blockpass, which is used by projects like Polygon, Chainlink, Cardano, Animoca, and many others in the industry. When you purchase a key, you must also confirm that doing so does not violate any local laws applicable to you.
Terra nodes that are not running or not properly funded to pay for gas fees do not earn rewards, even with a license key. Therefore, operators should ensure their nodes are funded, online, and running.
